Looking for Math Tutoring in Ottawa?
There’s a better way to help your teen succeed.
If your teen is struggling with high school math, it’s not just about getting the right answers. They need support that helps them actually understand what’s going on, and feel more confident tackling it on their own.
If you’re exploring options for math tutoring in Ottawa, this offers something more lasting than a quick fix.

Why Traditional Tutoring Isn’t Always Enough
Most math tutoring focuses on…
That might help them pass the next test, but it doesn’t always lead to real understanding or long-term success.
What We Offer Instead
We offer small-group academic support that combines math help with study strategies, mindset and confidence building. Here’s how it works…
Concept-Based Support
We don’t walk through homework and assignments. We actively revisit the ideas from class that students are struggling with most and help them make connections between topics, so learning is more than just steps to follow.
Active & Collaborative Learning
No lectures here. Students solve problems out loud, explore new examples, and learn by working with others. All guided by a trained facilitator who helps them think, not just listen.
Integrated Study Skills
We don’t just help students with what to learn, we teach them how to learn it. In every session, we introduce simple, effective strategies that help students study smarter and helps improves their learning across all subjects.
Safe Space to Struggle & Ask Questions
Students learn best when they feel safe. Our small groups create a space where it’s okay to be confused, ask again, and work things through without judgement or pressure.
Long-Term Learning, Not Quick Fixes
Our sessions are consistent and culmulative. We focus on unerstanding that lasts, not just cramming before tests, so students leave with real knowledge, not short-term memory tricks.
Support that Feels Human
Facilitators don’t just explain, they coach, guide and encourage. We meet students where they are and help them grow from there, with empathy, structure and support that feels different from what school usually offers.
What to Expect in a Study Group
Our study groups are structured to help students do more than just get through their next assignment. They’re designed to build understanding that sticks.
Each group meets for a 90-minute weekly session, with 6–8 students and a trained facilitator who creates a supportive space for thinking, questioning, and growth.
Students choose the math concepts they want to review; from algebra and equations to word problems, or functions. Based on those choices, facilitators plan targeted sessions using a consistent structure that includes:
We revisit key ideas students are struggling with using clear explanations, visuals, and group discussion to rebuild understanding from the ground up.
Students solve carefully selected practice problems that reflect what they’re likely to see on tests or assignments with support to help them avoid common mistakes and build confidence.
We slow down and focus on how to reproduce the process: How do you recognize what a question is asking? What’s the best approach? These are the strategies that make studying more effective.
Launching Fall 2025
We’re opening our first round of study groups this fall, starting with grade 9 and 10 math in Ottawa. Group sizes are small (6-8 students), and space is limited.
If your teen could benefit from math support that actually works, this is your chance to get in early and help shape something built differently.

Meet Your Guide
Hi, I’m Brenna – educator, lifelong learner and the founder of STEM Study Groups
I started out as a tutor, but the more I worked with students, the more I realized they needed more than just homework help. They needed the tools, space, and support to become confident, independent learners.
I’ve spent years studying how we learn best, and what actually helps students grow. I built this program to reflect everything that I’ve learned. I believe every student is capable when given the right guidance and the chance to see their own potential.
This work is my passion and I’m here to help students not just catch up, but rise up.
